Hi there, I'm Mia

I’m a project manager. A parent. An expat based in Berlin, Germany.

A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Started

Moving to Germany wasn’t part of the long-range plan. Like many international relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.

The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than they ought to be.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines settled in. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.

Why I Built AmberTreeWay

Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.

This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Germany.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site IS:

  • Hands-on insights from living in Germany
  • Centered on family life and everyday realities
  • Updated only when something truly changes

This site ISN'T:

  • Not a tourism authority resource
  • Not a sponsored review platform
  • Not a generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our time in Germany goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we find.

If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, feel free to reach out.

Cheers,

Mia
